How are Kelantanese & Thai batiks connected

Aesthetically, we have always felt that Terengganu batik is closer to Javanese batik Pesisir and Kelantanese batik is closer to Thai batik. We know the relationship between Terengganu batik and Javanese batik. We have always been curious about how Kelantanese batik and Southern Thai batik are linked. Thanks to Alisa, our curator friend at Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, we finally got the answer.

Apparently, Thai migrant workers, who returned home after spending years working in Kelantanese batik workshops, set up their own batik workshop in their kampung (village). Transferring knowledge across culture, they brought home with them Kelantanese batik technique and aesthetic. Hence.
